Luna was the smallest ghost in the old schoolhouse, and the worst at scaring. She tried her best "BOO!" but it came out as a polite little "boo."

Something settled in The's chest, calm and steady. Sunlight peeked through, painting golden stripes across the ground.

The oldest tree in the yard gave a slow, approving creak. "If I get it wrong, I'll just try again," The thought, and the worry shrank.

And so The's story grew a little more, one small step at a time.

The other ghosts swooped and wailed. Luna just floated behind the chalkboard, feeling left out. "Iโ€™ll never be a proper scary ghost," she sighed.

The blinked, surprised at how light everything suddenly felt. The path ahead curved out of sight, which made it interesting.

A hand rested on The's shoulder for a second, and that was enough. The remembered that every big adventure starts with one small, brave step.

Another page, another little adventure for The.

On Halloween night, children came to the schoolhouse for a party. They were having fun โ€” until the lights flickered and went out.

A soft, brave feeling came over The and stayed there. Sunlight peeked through, painting golden stripes across the ground.

A friend said, "Take your time โ€” I'm not going anywhere," and meant it. "One step at a time," The reminded herself. "That's how brave things get done."

The day kept unfolding, kind and unhurried, and The was ready for it.

Everyone gasped in the dark. Then Luna glowed. Softly, warmly, like a little lamp. "boo?" she said gently. The children giggled.

The felt taller than a moment ago, though nothing had changed but the mood. The path ahead curved out of sight, which made it interesting.

Someone had left a small lantern on the fence post, still warm, just in case. The counted the good things, and found there were more than expected.

Some stories grow slowly, the way a garden does โ€” and The's was one of them.

"Youโ€™re not scary at all!" laughed a girl named Mia. "Youโ€™re a night-light!" And she held up her hand. Luna floated into it, glowing brighter.

The day felt kind, and The decided to trust it. Sunlight peeked through, painting golden stripes across the ground.

A bird landed nearby, tilted its head at The, and seemed satisfied with what it saw. "It doesn't have to be perfect," The decided. "It only has to be mine."

There was more to come, and The was happy to wait for it.

The other ghosts watched in surprise as Luna played hide-and-seek with the children, glowing in different colors when they found her.

A warm feeling spread through The from ears to toes. The path ahead curved out of sight, which made it interesting.

A neighbour paused in their doorway and waved, the way people do in small, kind places. The thought about all the kind faces waiting at home, and it made the way feel lighter.

One quiet moment followed another, and the story of The kept going.

By the end of the night, every child wanted a picture with the friendly glowing ghost. The big ghosts were jealous โ€” Luna had more friends than anyone.

The world seemed to glow just a little brighter. Sunlight peeked through, painting golden stripes across the ground.

Somewhere close, a gentle song rose up, as if the world itself was humming along. "Someone showed me how," The realised. "So one day I can show someone else."

The world stayed soft and safe around The, and the pages kept turning.

"Maybe scary isnโ€™t everything," said the biggest ghost, floating closer. "Can you teach us to glow?" Luna smiled. "I can teach anyone to be friendly."

The took a deep breath and felt ready for anything. The path ahead curved out of sight, which made it interesting.

Even the trees seemed to lean in, cheering The on. The wondered how many other people were being brave today, somewhere, quietly.

Every small thing The noticed made the story a little richer.
